Apple (OS X Mavericks, 10.9)

No proper installer for Moleculix is yet available on the Mac.
To install Moleculix on OS X, follow these steps:

  • Click the Download button and download the code, which is a regular ZIP archive.
  • Unzip the downloaded archive in a folder of your choice.
  • Run the bundled setup.py script with admin rights, e.g. sudo python setup.py, in a terminal.

    • The setup.py script will automatically install the required Moleculix Python binaries into your current OS X Python installation.


    NOTE: Currently there are certain Moleculix features not yet working on the MAC. In particular, running any python code that exits the explorer, and subsequently need to explore again, will fail with a ‘invalid drawable’ error. At the moment, there is no solution on how to recover from this error. If this happens, your current python session is lost, and you will need to manually close (kill) the session.
